Session OverviewIn today’s world, leadership is no easy feat. We navigate a landscape characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA)  – a landscape that demands a new breed of leader. But how do you develop yourself to become one of this new breed? The answer lies not in traditional learning about leadership, but in a profound journey of personal development, whose curriculum has largely remained hidden…up until now.

Bob Anderson states: “We are always playing two games – an outer and an inner game. The better the outer game and the more mature the inner game, the more effective is the person’s leadership”. Most leadership programmes focus on our “outer-game” –the acquisition of skills and knowledge. While these are important, true leadership transformation for a VUCA world hinges on the often-neglected “inner-game” – your way of being. This programme delves into this hidden curriculum, fostering genuine personal development to complement a leader’s traditional leadership training.

Note from the Facilitator:
As you embark on the journey towards becoming an executive director, you’ll need to undertake a significant personal transformation, which has hitherto largely been hidden from your view. Moving beyond the familiar terrain of your functional domain, you’ll step into a VUCA landscape (currently on steroids within the NHS), demanding a shift from expert operator to strategic visionary. This course will illuminate the critical distinctions between individually leading in a function and interdependently leading the organisation, emphasising the need for this profound personal transformation to how you show up in your executive role, achieved in part by transforming your leadership identity (from being an individualistic hero to becoming a more humble host, who can work interdependently with others).

This programme isn’t just about acquiring new skills; it’s about reshaping your mindset, your worldview, becoming cognisant of your ‘way of being’, whilst expanding your perspective and cultivating a new level of personal presence, gravitas and awareness. We’ll explore how to navigate ambiguity, embrace vulnerability and build your agility to move from tactical execution to strategic influence. This programme will challenge you to confront your current assumptions, beliefs, behaviours and values, which may have got you to where you are, but which are undoubtedly going to be an impediment to your progression.

In summary, the VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) presents unprecedented challenges for leaders. The traditional “heroic” leadership model is no longer sufficient. This programme equips leaders with the inner operating system and capacities to navigate these complexities and emerge as inspirational figures who can guide their teams to success.

Attendance and Cancellation Policy

Your commitment to attendance is crucial to the success and outcome of our events, as well as your continued personal development. Spaces are limited and non-attendance prevents others from benefiting from the opportunity.

Where an offer requires full attendance over a series of workshops, attendance at all elements of the programme is expected. Places cancelled at short notice can occasionally lead to events being cancelled or postponed, as running events with fewer participants can impact the learning and overall success.

We would like to ensure the workshops are a safe place for our learners to have open discussions and are therefore unable to record the sessions for you to catch up.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone an event should unexpected circumstances occur. Should an event need to be cancelled we will not be held responsible for any travel or accommodation that has been pre-booked by the attendee.

We are committed to looking at ways we can improve and develop our Leadership Development offers. Your feedback supports us and providers to ensure we are delivering the right interventions in the right way. As such, we would be grateful for your participation in any post-event follow-up & evaluation.
