Session Overview (max 200 words) | Increasing confidence within a Board setting is a key development area for aspiring and newly appointed Executive Directors, a confident and capable performance at Board is a vital element of an Executive Director’s role. Board meetings are a formal, public forum for challenge and debate, this environment can create a sense of vulnerability and potentially become daunting for new Executives. The Board Simulation Programme gives participants the opportunity to experience a realistic Board environment and to build confidence to perform as an Executive Director at a Board. The programme creates a learning environment where participants can practice the skills and behaviours of an Executive within a safe and experimental space. Participants build confidence and capability whilst also reflecting on their key learning to take forward to the next step in their career. We bring participants together to create a simulated Executive Team who spend time together preparing for a Board meeting. Each participant undertakes the role of an Executive Director who will be presenting at Board. At the Board simulation, the formal setting of a Board meeting is created with simulated Non Executive Directors who bring realistic challenge and debate. Following the meeting each participant has an individual debrief session with an accredited Executive Coach to reflect on their key strengths and areas for development. *Please note that this session differs to the Masterclass in Board-level decision making as this session has a stronger focus on simulating/role playing being a board member in a safe environment, rather than the decisions and challenges themselves. |
Further detail on the session, including potential agendas and pre-reading (where relevant) for each session will be sent individually closer to the event. If you have any questions, please contact the SW Leadership & Talent Team at [email protected].
Attendance and Cancellation Policy
Your commitment to attendance is crucial to the success and outcome of our events, as well as your continued personal development. Spaces are limited and non-attendance prevents others from benefiting from the opportunity.
We would like to ensure the workshops are a safe place for our learners to have open discussions and are therefore unable to record the sessions for you to catch up. As both our cohorts are expected to be fully booked, we are unable to move attendees around if they are no longer able to attend their chosen cohort dates.
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone an event should unexpected circumstances occur. Should an event need to be cancelled we will not be held responsible for any travel or accommodation that has been pre-booked by the attendee.
We are committed to looking at ways we can improve and develop our Leadership Development offers. Your feedback supports us and providers to ensure we are delivering the right interventions in the right way. As such, we would be grateful for your participation in any post-event follow-up & evaluation.
