Welcoming Emma!
Non-urgent advice: Emma Blake, Primary Care Programme Manager
Hi, I’m Emma,
I joined the South West Leadership Academy in August as the Primary Care Programme Manager. I have worked in the NHS since I qualified as physiotherapist in 2003 and have been part of the journey that the NHS has been on over the last 2 decades. My most recent role with Somerset Foundation Trust, involved operational leadership of the South Somerset community teams alongside strategically working across organisational boundaries, identifying opportunities to engage collaboratively with primary care, social care and the voluntary sector.
I feel passionately about the NHS and the role it can play in bringing care closer to home and supporting people to live their best lives within their own communities.
I believe that everyone is a leader within the NHS and if we can embed the culture of compassionate and authentic leadership within our workforce we can truly address some of the challenges that the NHS is facing. I have had the privilege of working with some truly inspirational people who have shaped and supported my own leadership journey over the years-a journey in which there is always more to learn.
I am loving my new role and feel very lucky to have stepped into a team who are not only incredibly welcoming, supportive and passionate about their work but also full of amazing skills and knowledge that I can learn from. I am really looking forward to the opportunities that the next year will bring.
